Bessie A. White
The Bessie a four mast Canadian schooner went aground in heavy fog about a mile west of Smith's Point, Long Island on February 6, 1922. The crew were able to launch two boats, one capsized in the surf, with minor injuries to one crew member. All others made it to shore safely. The Wrecking crew were not able to save the ship which had 15 tons of coal onboard.
