Wreck of the USS Algol

Eco-Photo Explorers examines the exciting world of shipwrecks through the use of photography and history. Many of Long Island's shipwrecks are discussed, including their history, artifacts found on these wrecks and their present state under the water. A discussion that highlights some of the marine life that inhabits these artificial reefs is included.

Long Island Insects: Backyard Beasties

Butterfly

Some of the most interesting creatures in the animal kingdom live right in our own backyards. Eco-Photo Explorers uses unique photographic techniques to capture the insect life that thrives here on Long Island. From the bizarre to the beautiful, the terrifying to the cute, these creatures are a vital part of our natural environment.

The life cycles and natural history of insects are discussed, as well as techniques for attracting beneficial insects and repelling pests...naturally. Also discussed are ways of attracting bats to keep flying pests under control and constructing butterfly gardens.
